gmail myself URL

Sometimes I just want to quickly send myself a note that I will see later when I check my gmail.

Assuming that you are currently logged into Google mail, here is a URL that works ( you edit it to suit you ) :

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?view=cm&fs=1&to=YOURnameHERE%40gmail.com&su=YourSubject&body=YourMessage&pli=1&tf=1

It is HTTPS and ends with tf=1

Note that the %40 is the code for the '@' sign in your gmail id.

Google search broken

This morning my  Google search on
Unicon coexpression HTTP
returns NO "most relevant results" - pages of results flash up but then disappear - even the very Unicon PDF that I was looking for  - that link flashes up and then Pooffff !

HTTPS defeated by Google

More bad news:

https://search.google.com/ is redirecting to http://www.google.ca/ for my own good, naturally ...

But hey,  https://mail.google.com/mail has been over-llooked for now up at the view from the mountain ...

But Google will find a way to defeat your choice to use that HTTPS URL in personal home page links - and it is for your own good, after all.  Google knows best.

HTTPS Google redirects to igoogle as HTTP

One change to tasks on the igoogle page and WHAM! SLAM!

https://www.google.com/ on my home page - MY link - is redirecting to HTTP  google.com igoogle.

From HTTPS ?!?

I go HTTPS to prevent a redirect to google.ca due to my IP being identified through a Canuck router.

Where the hell is the warning such as that GMAIL throws up for content that is not HTTPS in mail ?

BUT: https://google.com/ can flip up a certificate warning in IE as it redirects to www.google.com/ig

Facebook blocks Blogger post from Blogspot and Google

Facebook just refused to post a goo.gl short link to my previous post on Elizabeth Smart and Rilke.

Facebook rejected this Blogger address as SPAM whether posted as public or "friends".

Is this the beginning of an assault on blogspot.com by Facebook?  An attack on Google?

Or a malicious "flag" raised by someone I stopped following recently?

Google Chrome browser and Google's BlogSpot blogger.com

This blogging service keeps reminding me how much better off I would be using Chrome (removed from this PC and no longer permitted to update on my Ubuntu netbook. Ahem.)

I get this little tickle at the back of my neck when I read their suggestion: how long before some essential blogger function here will be an exclusive Chrome feature (HTML 5 being what it is ?)

So why remain with blogger.com instead of uisng WordPress wherever else? Well, I do - some - but I prefer blogger when it comes down to it.  But I could not say why. The templates are annoying. At least one important feature is completely daft.  Write it off as habit and a lean towards the familiar.

But today I may have unwittingly nibbled at the bait - I clicked into the invite to try http://draft.blogger.com/home - but only in my default browser.  A browse of the source code for that page reveals nothing sinister ... the doctype and dtd are HTML4 ...

The Chrome blog itself is here.
